The Netherlands: 'Dordt in Stoom 2016'

The historic city of Dordrecht - Dordt to the locals - plays host every two years to a steam festival Dordt in Stoom. The 2016 event saw steam and traditional motor vessels gathering in an impressive parade. There were visiting vessels as well as local ships, and tugs predominated as the pictures show. One of the largest tugs present was 1959-built 4,500hp ocean-going tug Elbe, restored and under class again.

Maritime Museum Rotterdam was represented by four vessels from its fleet: the 1893 steam Rhine tug Pieter Boele, the massive 1927 grain elevator Nr 19, 1929 coal-fired harbour tug Volharding and the 1940-1946 tug Dockyard V
