ICMM welcomes you to Valparaiso

ICMM welcomes you to Valparaiso, Chile for 2017’s ICMM international Congress

Mark your calendars for 15-20 October, 2017, for the 18th International Congress of Maritime Museums, to be hosted by the National Maritime Museum, Valparaiso, Chile.

ICMM’s theme for 2017’s Congress is DISCOVERIES! A discovery is the act of detecting something new, or something "old" that had been unknown, which lends itself to our role as leading maritime museums, as well as considering our location for 2017’s congress, Valparaiso historically being one of the most important ports on the Pacific coast of South America.

Proposals are invited for papers on topics in one or more of the four areas of ICMM’s focus, being:

1. Interpretation

2. Collections Management

3. Museum Management

4. Maritime Archeology (advancement in museums’ understanding and endorsement of archaeological practice; current ethical challenges presented to museums)

Full details of the call for papers from the 2017 Programme can be found here
